The Student Association for Students in Aviation at UiT

Supporting Students

The student association’s main purpose is to look after the students it represents. We do this in several ways, including supporting social activities and organising events such as games nights, quizzes and indoor football.

Istind Student Accommodation

Many aviation students live at Istind Student Accommodation. Sideslip has an operating agreement with NLH (Norges Luftfartshøyskole), which owns the building. The board helps manage the building’s day-to-day operations. Among other things, Sideslip has worked to establish a student bar in the basement, called “Coffin Corner”, and a gym called “Top Guns”.

Promoting the Programme

At Sideslip, we want to raise awareness of the aviation programme, so promoting it is an important part of what we do. This is primarily the responsibility of the board member in charge of PR, although the whole board contributes. We aim to maintain an active presence on social media and attend education fairs and other events in person.

Partnerships

Sideslip has several ongoing partnerships, including close cooperation with the Norwegian Airline Pilots Association (Norsk Flygerforbund). The board also aims to organise regular career days in Bardufoss and company visits to strengthen ties between the aviation industry and student pilots. We also work closely with UiT, UTSA and NLH.
